A Hilye-i Şerif refers to works that describe the physical characteristics and the noble qualities of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). These works exist both as books and as calligraphic panels. The hadiths included in these books and panels are mostly derived from primary hadith sources. There is no religious objection to using such panels as gifts or for home decoration. It may even be considered a commendable practice, as it serves to remind one of the Messenger of Allah. However, claims that these panels possess special virtues, such as warding off calamities or bringing blessings, are not supported by the fundamental sources of the religion.
