The milk of animals is subject to the same ruling as their meat. Therefore, the milk of an animal whose meat is permissible is also permissible, while the milk of an animal whose meat is forbidden is likewise forbidden (Merginani, al-Hidayah, IV, 78). The meat of domesticated donkeys is considered haram according to all four schools of thought (Ibn Qudamah, al-Mughni, XI, 66). This ruling is also supported by authentic hadiths. For instance, in a hadith narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prohibited eating donkey meat on the day of Khaybar (Bukhari, Al-Zabaih, 27; Muslim, Al-Zabaih, 36).
