In a non-Muslim country, it is permissible to work in a market that you do not own and, as part of your general job duties, to bag and hand over products purchased by customers—without distinction—even if those products include alcohol or pork. This is because you are neither the seller nor the producer of these unlawful items, nor are you specifically facilitating their sale; rather, you are merely performing a general service. The responsibility for the unlawful aspect lies with the customer’s choice and the commercial activity of the business owner.

Employment in which one is not directly engaged with such products is more virtuous and more consonant with taqwā; however, under conditions of genuine financial necessity, working in this manner is not deemed unlawful.
