Every religion has its own distinctive holidays, as well as days and nights that are regarded as sacred and celebrated with a sense of devotion. These occasions also carry a devotional aspect; believers observe them both as moments of joy and as acts of worship. From this perspective, it would not be appropriate for a Muslim to celebrate the religious holidays of another faith.
However, although personally participating in such celebrations is not considered appropriate, there is no religious objection to offering congratulations in order to maintain goodwill and positive relations. This does not imply approval of their beliefs or acceptance of their religion. Rather, a Muslim does this to foster good relations with others within the same society. Establishing good relations with people is also encouraged in Islam, as supported by many verses and prophetic traditions.
