If a woman’s menstruation ceases during the afternoon in the month of Ramadan and she attains purity, it is recommended (mustaḥabb) for her to refrain from eating and drinking for the remainder of the day until sunset. Some scholars have even considered this abstention to be obligatory (wājib). In light of this opinion, refraining from food and drink assumes even greater significance. Therefore, she should prefer to remain abstinent.
This conduct reflects due reverence for the fast and for the sanctity of Ramadan. Nevertheless, she is required to make up (qaḍā’) that day after Ramadan.
