The use of false eyelashes, like other cosmetic enhancements, must consider the following principles:
- Cleanliness and Ritual Purity: Since false eyelashes are not applied for medical purposes, they should not obstruct water from reaching the skin during wudu (ablution) or ghusl (ritual bath). If they prevent proper washing, the ablution and the prayers performed with it would be invalid.
- Maintaining Natural Disposition: Temporary false eyelashes should not drastically alter the natural appearance granted by Allah. Islam prohibits significant alterations to one’s creation for cosmetic purposes.
- Moral Guidelines: The use of false eyelashes must align with moral principles. Using excessively long or exaggerated lashes to attract attention, especially from the opposite gender, is prohibited.
In light of these principles, a woman may use false eyelashes or other cosmetic enhancements for her lawful spouse, as long as they do not violate these guidelines.
