Goods forgotten or abandoned at customs are offered for sale in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. This process aims to protect the public interest and improve service quality. Two types of goods are offered for sale: those forgotten at airports and goods seized for violating customs regulations, abandoned by their owners. Abandoned goods mean that the owner has relinquished their property, and the sale of such goods is permissible according to Islamic law. Forgotten items, however, are regarded as “Luqata” (lost property) in Islamic law. The handling of lost property is subject to certain conditions: it must be taken not with the intention of ownership but with the intention of finding the owner, it must be preserved, announced, and if the owner does not appear after a certain period, it can be used or donated. Forgotten goods at customs are kept in storage for a certain period before being offered for sale. Since this process follows the conditions set by Islamic scholars, there is no issue with purchasing these goods. In summary, purchasing products offered for sale in customs shops is permissible.
