There may be some concerns regarding the consumption of carbonated beverages. The first issue arises with those that contain alcohol added directly. While some claim that alcohol loses its identity through extensive mixing in large batches, others argue that it remains unchanged. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid drinks that explicitly state they contain externally added alcohol. The presence of added alcohol does not establish a definite conclusion but at least raises suspicion. Avoiding doubtful matters is both a requirement of piety (taqwa) and strengthens it.
The second concern involves beverages that later develop alcohol. There is no harm in consuming such drinks because the alcohol produced from the natural acidity of the fruit during boiling is not intoxicating and has not undergone any special processing.
The items we consume affect not only the sensitivity regarding the legality (haram/halal) but also our character and spiritual life. Therefore, we should always operate within the following guidelines regarding food and drink: conduct research, exercise caution, consult reliable individuals and experts, avoid doubts, prioritize piety, act based on necessity, and refrain from extravagance and luxury. These guidelines should also be considered in relation to carbonated beverages.
Additionally, when discussing or debating what is haram and halal, it is important for people not to hurt, blame, or gossip about each other. It is necessary to state the clearly known rulings, while also emphasizing sensitivity and piety regarding doubtful matters, leaving the final decision to personal preference.
