Beer yeast, known as a type of yeast, can be used in halal food and beverages. This is because beer yeast itself does not possess characteristics that would render it haram. It only becomes haram when it is in a different state. Therefore, using beer yeast for fermentation and other purposes is permissible. However, it is not permissible to use beer or alcoholic beverages for dough or to mix them with halal items, as they themselves are haram and can render the things they mix with haram as well.
